Everglades National Park
Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. The area boasts rare and endangered species, such as the American crocodile, Florida panther, and West Indian manatee.
Barefoot Beach Preserve County Park
One of the last undeveloped barrier islands on Florida's southwest coast, this park is 342 acres of natural land. Enjoy the natural surroundings and seek out the numerous animal species that reside there. Swimming is safe, and beach access is by boardwalk. 8,200 feet of beach and sand dunes with seat oats provide nesting sites for sea turtles during the summer months.
Park Rangers offer a number of programs, including lectures and interpretive programs to educate the public about the importance of the environment and wildlife in Southwest Florida. The park has a butterfly garden, a one-mile nature trail, showers, a picnic area and a concession area.
