Raptor Bay Launches Golf Academy

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (Dec. 5, 2013) – The Raptor Bay Golf Club, a WCI Communities-managed facility, announces the launch of the new Raptor Bay Golf Academy under the direction of PGA professional Dan Lockhart.

Currently in his second season at Raptor Bay, Lockhart previously was the academy instructor at WCI’s Tiburón for six years and has assisted top Golf Digest golf instructor Rick Smith. Lockhart specializes in utilizing modern teaching technology such as TrackMan radar and hi-speed video analysis in his instruction.

LPGA professional Katie Detlefsen will serve as the full-time instructor at the academy. Detlefsen trained under long-time swing and fitness coach Annika Sorenstam, as well as Rick Smith. She is also the winner of the 2013 LPGA Teach and Club pro Midwest Section Championship.

Each academy participant – regardless of skill level – will receive personal instruction focused on solid golf fundamentals, specifically tailored equipment, fitness and stretching tips, and swing analysis.

The Raptor Bay Golf Academy offers TrackMan Doppler Radar analysis, the industry-leading ball and club data-capture technology that allows instructors to pinpoint exactly why a golf shot does what it does, making instruction and swing corrections easier.

An online free tracking service provided by the academy allows students to view lesson videos from any location, track stats, schedule lessons and more. Students also can take part in Raptor Bay Golf Academy’s Get Golf Ready clinic series, designed for beginner and higher handicapped golfers.

The Raptor Bay Golf Academy, located between the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa and the Hyatt Residence Club at Coconut Plantation in Bonita Springs, is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Designed by golf legend Raymond Floyd, Raptor Bay Golf Club made history as the first resort course in the U.S. to receive Audubon International’s Gold Certification. The 18-hole championship course features 22 acres of lakes and more than 200 acres of native vegetation and nature preserve areas.
